Planning Point

    Suppose you have a decision tree like this. The current planning point is the root node, where you started the analysis and compared "Go by Car" with "Go by Plane".

    Now suppose you chose "Go by Car" and then encountered the event "Car breaks down".

    At this point, you need to decide whether to call the dealership or a mechanic. The planning point should shift from the root node to the decision node after the "Car breaks down" event. Select that decision node and use its fly-over menu to set it as the planning point.

    After you click the planning-point button, the decision tree view updates as shown below.

    All calculations and analysis update based on the new planning point.
