Capture a screenshot
Snap Studio freezes your screen first and lets you choose what to keep afterwards, so menus, tooltips and anything that moves are captured exactly as they were when you pressed the key.
Start a capture
- Press Print Screen (or Ctrl+Alt+S when another program owns Print Screen).
- Choose Capture region from the notification area icon.
- In the editor, use the Capture button and choose Still, Video or Audio.
Choose what to keep
- A window: move the pointer over it and click.
- An area: drag across it. Each edge settles on the nearest window or screen border, and a guide line shows where it rests. Hold Alt to draw freely.
- A standard size: pick HD, 2K, 4K or full screen on the capture bar.
Before you confirm, drag any edge or corner to resize the area, or drag inside it to move it. A drag can cross monitors, and every monitor is captured at its own resolution, including a mix of 4K and full HD screens with different scaling.
After the capture
The screenshot opens in the editor and is saved in your library straight away. Tick Don't open Snap Studio on the capture bar to keep working where you were; the capture is still saved and selected for later.
To leave Snap Studio's own windows out of your screenshots, turn on Settings > Capture > Hide Snap Studio while capturing.
