Annotate a screenshot

Every annotation in Snap Studio is an object of its own on its own layer, so you can move, restyle or delete it at any time without touching the screenshot underneath.

    The annotation tools

    • Arrows and lines, straight or curved, with a choice of ends.
    • Callouts (Q) in five styles: speech, wide, oval, thought and line. Drag the bubble to move it while its tip stays on the spot it points at.
    • Numbered steps for step-by-step instructions.
    • Shapes (U, or Shift+U for the full drawer), including standard flowchart symbols. Double-click a shape to type inside it.
    • Highlighter, pencil and marker for freehand marks.
    • Text, with fonts, sizes, bold, italic and colors for any part of the words.
    • Blur (K) to hide names, emails or anything private.

    Connect shapes into a diagram

Drag the small arrow that appears beside a selected shape to draw a connector. Dropped on another shape, the arrow attaches to it and follows when either shape moves. With Flowchart mode on, dropping it on empty space adds a matching shape there.

    Change an annotation

Click an annotation to select it. Its options appear in the bar above the canvas: color, width, font, shadow and so on. Drag the handles to resize or turn it, and press Delete to remove it. Ctrl+Z undoes any step, and the History panel lists every one.

    Copy or export the result

Press Ctrl+Shift+C to copy the finished image for pasting into an email, a chat or a document. Export saves it with a preset, and Custom export offers PNG, JPEG, WebP, SVG, PDF and layered PSD or TIFF.
