v6.0 - v6.1.22

Rational Will 6.0-6.1.22: Faster modeling, stronger reporting, and reliability

This chapter expanded decision-analysis workflows with group AHP, a Markov-model creation wizard, and an additional AHP priority calculation method. Later optimization accelerated complex Bayesian Network calculations. Maintenance releases concentrated on preventing crashes, protecting model validity, improving project loading, and ensuring reports print with the selected orientation.

  1. Added Group Decision Making for the Analytic Hierarchy Process and the Largest Eigenvector method for calculating AHP priorities.
  2. Added a wizard-based interface for creating Markov models, while improving the Number criterion and Utility Function Editor experience on small monitors.
  3. Improved the calculation algorithm so Bayesian Networks with complex structures calculate very fast.

Bugs and reliability 24

  1. Improved stability by addressing Bayesian Network freezes and multiple crashes affecting Decision Tree Analysis, AHP, shared views, and related application components.
  2. Strengthened cost-effectiveness and model safeguards: DALY use now requires an interest rate and prevents discounting from being turned off; corrected the Cost Effectiveness Plane chart.
  3. Resolved workflow and reporting problems, including AHP PDF/Excel reporting with zero or one option, project-setting reset issues, JSON special-character failures, and report page orientation.
  4. Projects containing deeply nested state/node structures can now open correctly rather than failing at the JSON parser depth limit.

  1. Removed the Net Wealth box from the Bernoulli Utility Function editor because it was considered confusing and not useful.

Rational Will 5.0-5.1 expanded decision modeling, reporting, and reliability

Versions 5.0 through 5.1 broadened Rational Will’s analytical toolkit with dedicated AHP modeling, decision-tree integrations for Markov and Bayesian analysis, and richer decision visualizations. The releases also improved reporting and chart access, added editable Decision Tree payoff report cells, and addressed calculation, project-state, AHP, and chart-related issues.

  1. Introduced a dedicated AHP modeling tool with unlimited sub-criteria levels, a graphical hierarchy tree, constrained pairwise inputs, and an interactive matrix view.
  2. Expanded decision-tree analysis with probability-tree analysis, direct Markov Decision Process integration, and Bayesian Network and Bayesian Inference integration.
  3. Added decision insight tools including an Event Distribution Chart, criterion-weighted stack and polar charts, and configurable utility units.
  4. Improved reporting and chart access: Decision Tree payoff report cells became editable, terminal-node information was exported, and charts gained a context menu for data, image copying, and Excel export.

  4. Addressed chart and display problems, including chart arrangement, cut-off pie charts, missing radar options, and Cost Effectiveness Plane axis controls.

Rational Will 3.0-3.7.1: richer decision modeling and stronger reliability

Across versions 3.0 through 3.7.1, Rational Will expanded decision-modeling tools, analysis capabilities, and Decision Tree support. The releases also concentrated on stability, reporting, chart behavior, and correct decision-criteria calculations, while simplifying how money objectives are represented.

Rational Will 2.0-2.17: Stronger decision trees and machine learning

Across versions 2.0 through 2.17, Rational Will expanded decision-tree creation, analysis, project workflows, and machine-learning support. Updates also focused on calculation correctness, reporting, data handling, performance, and application stability.

  1. Built out Decision Tree work: edit node text, optionally show metrics on nodes, view policy or rule sets, and copy or export diagrams.
  2. Added Decision Tree generation from CSV, Excel, or SQL Server data, then added cancellable progress and significantly improved machine-learning performance and progress reporting.
  3. Added multilingual support, Windows file associations for double-click opening, and saving diagram zoom, spacing, and width in project files.
  4. Improved objective setup with clearer navigation and tooltips, plus an Add more objectives action during the creation wizard.

  1. Corrected decision-analysis calculation and interpretation issues, including consistency ratio loading, utility calculations, certainty equivalent logic, and Radar Chart utility values.
  2. Addressed crashes in core workflows including cross-instance node paste, sensitivity analysis, Print Preview, Machine Learning rebuild, and Stochastic Dominance.
  3. Made Decision Tree Machine Learning more resilient to missing data and Excel continuous or DateTime attributes.
  4. Corrected reporting problems where learned rule sets were omitted and sensitivity charts could show clipped legends and scrollbars.

Rational Will 1.0-1.2: Analytic Hierarchy Process and stability gains

Rational Will launched in version 1.0, followed by usability-focused maintenance in 1.1. Version 1.2 expanded its decision-analysis capabilities with the Analytic Hierarchy Process and addressed crashes, including failures caused by null references and by using Markov Decision Process after closing a project.
